About Hamptonian METARverse
HamptonianMETARverseCrack the Code. Read the Sky.
Hamptonian METARverse teaches high-school aviation and drone students to decode METAR aviation weather reports — not by memorizing a code sheet, but by seeing what each piece of the code means.
Build the weather picture one piece at a time. Every lesson adds one component, every component has an instrument, and every instrument shows real weather.
WWW • VCT • DAR
- WWWWhere • When • Wind
- VCTVisibility • Clouds • Temperature
- DARDew Point • Altimeter • Remarks
The signature Hamptonian method. A METAR always runs in this order, so students read it the same way every time: WWW — Where, When, Wind; then VCT — Visibility, Clouds, Temperature; then DAR — Dew point, Altimeter, Remarks.
Data & honesty
Live METARs come from the official AviationWeather.gov Data API and are always labeled LIVE. If the feed is unavailable, METARverse says so — it never invents a live report.
Training METARs are realistic, correctly formatted practice reports, always labeled TRAINING. Airport names, locations, elevations and runways come from FAA data via AviationWeather.gov.
Progress is stored in the student's own browser. Nothing is sent to a server unless the student shares a progress code with their teacher.
For training only. Always get an official weather briefing before flight.
